If you'd like to be added to the waitlist, email whitelamevents@gmail.com.
The Young Inventor Challenge International Championship convenes every November at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair. This fun event provides an opportunity for kids to pitch their original toy and game inventions to major toy and game companies and industry professionals. Whitelam Books is thrilled to be selected as a host of a regional People of Play Event on Sunday, October 20 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.

Kids in grades 3 - 8 are invited to participate. Kids can sign up as individuals OR as a team of two. Teams cannot exceed two kids.

This Whitelam Books Regional Young Inventor Challenge is free and open to the public. However, space is limited so you need to reserve your spot:  please email whitelamevents@gmail.com. Young inventors will be allowed to participate on a first come, first served basis so email today.

Kids do not have to do any pre-work or bring anything to this event. A pair of Whitelam Books booksellers and game enthusiasts will lead the kids in a two-hour experience of brainstorming, choosing a concept, building a prototype, and ultimately pitching their original idea to a panel of judges.

Kids 12 and under will need a parent/guardian to stay on hand during the event. Teens are invited to attend on their own.

Every kid will earn a certificate of participation and a $5 Whitelam Books gift card. A panel of esteemed judges will choose one lucky winner who will win a complementary submission to the Young Inventor Challenge International Championship this November in Chicago. Participation in person at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair is OPTIONAL. The regional winner can submit their entry online and can win even if they are not present. The winning young inventor will need some support from a parent/guardian to create a 3-minute pitch video to submit online by Sunday, Oct. 27 if they choose to move forward in the competition.
